¡Hola, !

We recently took our Spanish learning outside the classroom for a fantastic lunch at Tricolor York, an authentic Colombian restaurant. It was the perfect opportunity to socialise, connect, and put our language skills to the test with native speakers, just like in the real Spanish speaking world!

The atmosphere was excellent, and the company was truly lovely. To make the experience fully immersive, I asked the wonderful owners to speak to us in Spanish. Everyone did an amazing job ordering and chatting in Spanish while enjoying delicious traditional dishes like arroz con pollo, arepas, ceviche, empanadas, and a very refreshing jugo de guanábana. Take a look at the photos below to see some highlights from our afternoon!

Don't worry if you missed out this time. We prepare for these real-world social outings every single week during our group lessons, ensuring everyone feels confident and ready to speak. We are already planning our next social event, and I would love it if you could join us!

⏱️ The Golden Minute - El Minuto de Oro ⏱️

Record a voice note in your phone, only 60 seconds! Include what you've done on the day. Listening to your own voice helps you be more confident when speaking and identifying any opportunities to improve your fluency. You could always send it to me and I could help you learn how you did.

Y si te animas, puedes enviármelo y te diré qué tal lo has hecho, ¿qué te parece?

Phrase of the month: Echar un vistazo 👀

  • Meaning: To take a look at something.
  • English equivalent: To have a look; glance.
(Take a look at the photos, they're brilliant!)

Pro Tip: Even though the verb echar usually means to throw, in this context, it means to glance or look at something.

  • ¿Qué significa? Mirar algo rápidamente.
  • Equivalente en inglés: To take o to have a look at something; glance.
