Day 8: Objetos - Objects 📦

Jul 21, 2026 7:31 am

¡Hola, !

In Spanish, things (objects) are masculine or feminine. And it isn’t related to the person who uses it!

Typically, words ending in

-o  are  MASCULINE

-a  are  FEMENINE

But there are exceptions, so be aware of these.

When there is only one object, we also add EL or LA when we refer to them. This is like saying ‘the’, ‘a/an’ in English.

Here are some examples:

el vaso - glass

la taza - cup

And similar to English, we add an -s or -es to make it plural and we add LOS or LAS when we refer to them.

los libros - books

las ventanas - windows

Mmini-challenge iconini-challenge: Look at all the objects around you at the moment, can you name any of them? If there is more than one, remember to make it plural. Use a dictionary if needed (my favourite online/app is wordreference.com).

Muchos saludos

Irma
