When you want to find places, you first need to know what is near them, next to, etc. 

Here are some basic places we visit when on Holiday:

la piscina

el bar

el restaurante

la tienda / el supermercado

el museo

la estación de tren

los baños / los servicios

In Spanish, when we talk about location, we use ESTAR. So if I want to know where something is I ask ‘¿Dónde está…?’

Look at the places below, one is next to the other

So I would say

El restaurante está al lado de la tienda. - The restaurant is next to the shop.

El restaurante está a la derecha (de la tienda). - The restaurant is on the right.

La tienda está a la izquierda (del restaurante). - The shop is on the left.
