Good Morning π,
In my last note, I spoke about India's arbitration moment - the convergence of policy intent, institutional investment, and explosive growth in commercial dispute volumes that is reshaping the professional landscape.
Today, I want to be specific about how we at CEADR, IICA have translated that opportunity into a rigorous training program β and what makes the IICA Certified Arbitration Program (ICAP) different.
IICA Certified Arbitration Program
ICAP is not a weekend workshop. It is not a theoretical overview of arbitration law dressed up as professional training. It is a 250+ hour, 9-month, practitioner-centric hybrid program β arguably the most comprehensive arbitration training program of its kind in India, designed with a single objective: to produce professionals who can actually function with competence, credibility, and confidence in arbitration proceedings.
The program covers 23 modules across six thematic parts:
- Foundations of Arbitration β law, contracts, dispute resolution, conceptual framework
- Domestic Arbitration β Indian legal and institutional framework, post-arbitration remedies, document drafting
- International Commercial Arbitration β ICC, LCIA, SIAC rules; arbitral awards; practice and procedure
- Investor-State Arbitration β international frameworks, defences, institutional rules
- Damages and Valuation β quantification of claims in commercial arbitration
- Masterclasses, Technology, and Ethics β because modern arbitration demands more than legal knowledge
Twenty modules are delivered as live online sessions with recordings available. Three modules, including drafting and arbitration practice, are taught in-person across two campus immersions at IICA, Manesar. The program concludes with a final assessment, upon passing which participants are formally designated as 'IICA Qualified Arbitration Professional'.
The global pool of faculty in the founding batch included the former Chairperson of the India International Arbitration Centre (Justice Hemant Gupta, former Supreme Court Judge), the Director General of the London Court of International Arbitration (Mr. Kevin Nash), partners heading international arbitration practices from leading Indian and global firms, and expert arbitrators with FCIArb designations from across the globe.
The pathway beyond ICAP
ICAP is structured as the first step in a formal, government-backed professional progression. Participants who qualify as IICA Qualified Arbitration Professionals become eligible, under a fast-track route, to appear for the Arbitrator Qualifying Assessment Program (AQAP), which awards the designation of 'IICA Certified Arbitrator'. The first cycle of AQAP was recently conducted in April 2026 at IICA Campus presided over by Justice (Retd.) Hemant Gupta.
- ICAP Batch-II (2026 Batch) commences in July 2026.
- Registration closes on May 30 2026.
- Seats are capped at 40 with ONLY 6 SLOTS LEFT.
If you are a lawyer, chartered accountant, company secretary, corporate executive, or a professional in any domain where commercial disputes are a reality - this program is designed for you, regardless of whether you come from a legal background.
