Lupus Awareness 💜Day 23 — Exploring Alternative Medicine in Lupus Care

Energy restored, and thoughts on nontraditional options for lupus

Hi 👋🏾

Yesterday, I shared that I let myself sleep in, treating Thursday like a mini Saturday to help reset from the wear and tear of nonstop work. Well… it worked. Today, I felt noticeably more energized and had more stamina than I usually do by Friday. As someone who often pushes through fatigue, I needed that reminder that rest is a form of strategy.

📣Today, we’re exploring a topic that comes up often: alternative medicine and lupus.

Examples of Alternative Therapies Commonly Used

✔️ Omega-3s or turmeric for inflammation

✔️ Yoga, tai chi, or stretching for mobility and stress relief

✔️ Acupuncture for nerve pain or fatigue

✔️ Probiotics for gut health

✔️ Mindfulness or breathwork to manage flares and mental stress

What to Watch For

Unfortunately, some treatments marketed to lupus patients are just expensive hype. Always speak with your care team before adding anything new to your regimen. There’s no shame in exploring options—just be informed and safe.

đź’ś What It All Comes Down To

Alternative care isn’t about rejecting conventional medicine—it’s about listening to your body and examining what thoughtful, supportive practices might complement your current plan.
