The final Small Beer titles of 2024

Dear Readers,
As you probably know (since I'm coming up on my 3-year Long Covidversary — party time!), I have long Covid; noted here as everything about distributing this book will be done slowly.
We've opened orders for our four-volume limited edition of Kelly’s novel The Book of Love in two places: the Character and Limited Editions on the Small Beer website and the Numbered Edition on the Book Moon website. The Book of Love was just included in NPR's massive list of Books We Love, in the following categories(!):
- book club ideas
- family matters
- rather long
- sci fi, fantasy & speculative fiction
- seriously great writing
- the dark side
The Character Edition — $1,000; $1,200 after 1/1/2025 — & Lettered Edition —$600; $700 after 1/1/2025:

— This page is private until 11/29/24.
— Priority Mail shipping within the USA.
— PayPal is adding the shipping (good), then taking it away (bad) so shipping invoices will go out later.

The Numbered Edition ($225; $250 after 1/1/2025):
— Local pickup at Book Moon is available or Priority Mail shipping within the USA.
— The books will be priced at $X+$10 and $4.95 media mail will be added.

Also: Kelly has a new story, "Other People's Ghost Stories," in the new issue of Monkey.
Over at Book Moon we celebrated a second 5-year lease by commissioning an illustration of the store from one of our fave artists Kevin Huizenga — you may remember his illustrations for our Peapod Classics, a couple of issues of LCRW, and a Small Beer T-shirt. His illustration of the shop is fantastic and is available on T-shirts. Wear with joy!
Holiday shipping deadlines are approaching faster than normal (honest, guv, they're quite early this year). If you miss them, I recommend giving a gift to the Northampton Survival Center or CCATE or your local food bank in your giftee's name. There is rarely a present that will make more difference to someone's life.
Later this week Kelly and I should be able to pick up the print copies of LCRW 49. Then we'll get to the next (slow-ish) step: mailing. The cover was too good to resist and I went for the color version. More expensive? Yes but this is a moment to spread mimims or microseconds of joy wherever we can.
About 31.6% of eligible US voters voted for the coming government.
About 30.5% voted against.
About 37.9% abstained.
So 68.4% (just over 2/3) of voters did not choose chaos and we can all stand together (again, as ever), support one another where we can.
Ok, back to LCRW. Subscriptions? Here. International ebook: Weightless.
If you're on Bluesky, Kelly is happy to recommendation books for you/gifts. Give her two books to triangulate, she'll point you to something. (Here's a list to bookmark of some of her recommendations.)
2025 has some great books (from other publisher, laugh/cry emoji) coming down the line from Katherine Addison, Karen Russell, and so on. Hope you're reading something rich, deeply immersive, or just plain fun.
Cheers!
Gavin
