Hi

I'm getting countless emails with people asking me this ONE question and it's time I decided to answer it.

Do you need music theory or a musical background to become a successful electronic music producer?

Simple Answer: Absolutely not

Before you get your pitchforks out, just listen...

If your goal is to become the Mozart or Paganini or electronic music where you can imagine a symphony while drinking coffee then by all means focus on music theory

But electronic music today is SO streamlined that you can easily get away by just learning how to APPLY tools such as Midi Packs, Chord Generators, Arpeggiators and other midi tools.

Abelton even has a SCALE midi effect & function that allows you to limit your notes both via midi input and on the piano roll.

BUT

What you do need to know is what chord progressions producers in your genre are using to understand which specific emotion "works" for your genre and style.

Whether you like it or not, each genre has a rich history of why certain chord choices are being made.

For example in house music

Being sample focused, a chord sample was loaded onto a sampler and then pitched up and down.

Which actually created very interesting chords because they weren't necessarily fitting the scale perfectly. But still somehow worked.

But you won't be able to figure this out by yourself if you don't know how to ANALYSE the chord progressions of those songs.

This is why I decided to host a simple Free Chord Analysis Masterclass this December 7th to explain how to figure out the chords that ANY electronic music song and how to use tools like Midi packs.

After this masterclass I can guarantee you that you will never have to worry about how to make good chord progressions again!

This masterclass is actually part of my entire "Get Signed" program which has helped my students get signed to labels such as Colorize, Immersed, Zerothree, and many more.

See you there !

Cheers,
