CTA Update - Texas Judge Halts Enforcement of the CTA (for now)

Dec 09, 2024 4:31 pm

Hi,

Our law office doesn't spam people. So, if we reach out, it's important!

We have some late-breaking news to report to you.

A recent ruling from a federal court in Texas has temporarily halted the implementation of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA).

The court's decision, issued on December 3, 2024, grants a nationwide preliminary injunction against the CTA, preventing its enforcement until further notice. The court found that the CTA likely exceeds Congress's constitutional authority and may infringe on individuals' privacy rights.

The injunction has significant implications for businesses and regulatory agencies. It delays the implementation of a law intended to curb illicit finance, such as money laundering and terrorist financing. However, it also raises concerns about potential overreach of government power and the impact on privacy rights.

As the legal battle continues, it remains to be seen whether the CTA will ultimately be upheld or if it will face further challenges and modifications.

Sincerely,

Isaac D. Shutt
