Starting into September!
What a summer! It's hard to believe it's coming to an end! I guess summer officially ends in a few weeks, but I always think of Labour Day as the change-over from summer to fall.
It's hard to believe the changes ahead. I have one son married and my youngest is now entering his final (hopefully) year of high school. My wife and I got to experience a little taste of what "empty nest" will be like with my oldest moved out and my youngest working up north. It's weird. I guess you have to learn to exist without raising the kids constantly and remember what marriage was like when it was just the two of us.
My memory is always hit or miss, so who knows what it was like way back then! That's like 1/40th of a millennium ago!
Ridge: Day One has gotten a huge boost!
A short while ago, Ridge: Day One was selected for a Bookbub Featured Deal! If you're not familiar with that kind of book promotion, let me put it this way: I've been applying for one of these repeatedly for the last four or five years and been turned down every month... till now!
I think I almost did a little victory dance when the email came in!
What it means is... Ridge: Day One climbed fast in the rankings, and no wonder, it's only 99 cents! It actually hit top 100 in Fantasy Action and Adventure on Amazon in the US and Epic Fantasy in Canada and the UK! Thanks so much to all of you for your awesome support!
On top of that, I dropped Ridge: Day Two down to 99 cents for the ebook as well, so if you're looking to dive into this series, now's the best time to grab your copy!
Just be warned... if you read books one and two... it'll be pretty hard to stop yourself from diving into book three!
The Grek Invasion launched well!
One of the things I love about writing fantasy and sci-fi is the action! I love diving into fast-paced scenes that really get people excited about the story! This review from Hectic Reading Life really makes me smile!
If you want to read an alien invasion story that feels like a movie, this is a good one to pick up. It's fast paced, entertaining, and different enough to stand apart from comparative work.

So, if you're looking for something that feels like you're watching a movie and can really get into it, this story is for you!
Personal Update and What's Next!
Over the last nearly 10 years, my life has taken a weird turn. I don't mean this to sound like a sob-story. I'm not complaining. Just reflecting. :)
It all started with a sharp pain in my left eye, and then over the last decade, I've experienced everything from shingles in the eye to encephalitis to kidney stones to unexplained heart pain to volunteering as a human lab-rat for medical studies down in Maryland. It's been a wild ride.
But since January, it's like my body has been telling me, "You think that was a lot? check this out!" I had surgery, followed by a 5 day stay at the hospital with the worry of sepsis, a doctor made a really bad decision on medication, a new diagnosis, and months of recovery.
And yet, I'm really happy. Let me point out a few things:
I have my new writing project that I'm diving into
I have two great sons and a fantastic daughter-in-law (I couldn't have picked anyone more incredible than her for my son!)
My wife and I are enjoying marriage and each other and growing closer by the day
And I feel like I'm learning and growing spiritually and as a person in a lot of ways
Oh, and I also got some new socks recently, and I really like them a lot. They're comfortable, and these ones only have one hole in them for my foot to go through (not for toes to escape).
Despite all the changes and despite all the ups and downs of the last years, it's good. Really good.
That's all for this month! I'd love to hear from you! What was the highlight of your summer? Send me an email and let me know!
