I loved this debut novel by E J Schwartz In a treatment center for eating disorders, teenagers Shoshana and Rowan develop an intense, sometimes destructive connection. Ultimately, the girls will have to make a choice: get healthy on their own—or stay sick together. I found this a frank and honest accounts of the two girls, lithesome raw and heartbreaking moments that had me thinking long after I turned the last page. Last week was Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness Week in Australia so this is a good follow on to those who shared their personal stories. In the book the girls each had their own stories too, not cookie-cutter ideas of what having an eating disorder is supposed to be like. The ending was also a surprise! I read an advance copy thanks to Netgalley but you can get your copy after it’s release September 14.
