It's not all about exercise and nutrition

Happy Hump Day!
In the Success Manual, we talked about how important it is to get your sleep. Not just to keep you from feeling tired during the day, but to optimize your body’s fat-burning, healing, and recovery potential!
Your body does a lot of self-regeneration while you’re sleeping, and much of that involves HGH (human growth hormone). As you might guess, your body releases most of that hormone while you’re sleeping, so it’s important to make the most of that downtime.
Also, have you ever noticed that when you haven’t slept well, you’re hungry? It’s not because being tired zaps your willpower. It’s because being tired messes with your HORMONES.
That’s right. If you don’t get enough sleep, your leptin and ghrelin levels (hunger hormones) get out of balance. That means not only does your body crank out extra “I’m hungry!” hormones, it doesn’t release enough “I’m full” hormones.
As you can see, that’s kind of a recipe for disaster when it comes to curbing cravings.
Here are some tips to get more sleep:
- Try to set a regular bedtime.
- Create a nighttime wind-down routine to signal your body it’s time to sleep.
- Avoid electronics for an hour or two before bed if at all possible. They emit a special blue light that throw your circadian rhythm out of sync if you’re around it at night (it’s fine during the day).
- Make your room dark, and if you must, create “white noise.”
- Write down tomorrow’s must-dos in your planner, so you don’t stress about remembering them.
Cheers to amazing sleep!
