The SEO Test Write Up:
The Question: Will engagement in the form of thumbs up in reviews increase ranking of a GBP?
The Setup: I will use 2 separate accounts to give thumbs up on all reviews , meaning we used 2 separate G mail accounts to go through and leave 2 reviews on the #19 plumbers business. The business had dozens of reviews so there was tons of engagement on the profile. We left 120+ thumbs up on reviews total !!!!
Keyword: plumbers in Cleveland
Starting Position of business: #19
1 Week after engagement business was in the same position #19
After 5 weeks and going back and taking a look at the profile the engagement did little to nothing for the account and the account has gone down overall.
After rankings 3 weeks 8-25-22 profile is at #26
Result: Do not bother boosting engagement on reviews , if it happens naturally great but do not spend time or effort getting reviews marked up it does nothing unlikely a demotion more like a neutral action. It is not poitive or negative it is neutral !
