[NEW EPISODE] You Are a Steward, Not an Owner: The Meaning of Leadership

Jun 09, 2021 9:21 pm

How do you define a leader? For many of us, we think a leader should have strict, complete control over all aspects of any organization to be effective.

But is this really true?

While there are some merits to that definition, I would say that a true leader is more of a steward or a caretaker. Leadership is not about ownership or lordship — it is a gift. The more we embrace this fact, the better we can fulfill our duty to serve.

This is something I learned the hard way. When I was involved with a multi-level marketing business years ago, I considered other people as a means to an end, treating them based on how they could serve my goals. I looked at people as if they had dollar signs on their foreheads instead of unique individuals with valuable skills and experiences.

In this episode, I share the lessons from 30 plus years of study in this area. I encourage you to rethink your approach to leadership, people, and money by looking at leaders as stewards.

Our material possessions and relationships on this Earth are not ours to keep. The moment we think we own other people and money is the start of our downfall. A true leader has a steward’s mindset, treating people and resources as the gifts that they are.

If you want to know how to learn how to step into your role as steward-leader, make sure to listen to the full episode on our website or your favorite podcast platform.

To growing and becoming all we are created to be,
