TRAFFIC UPDATE

Important Traffic Notes for the Football Home Opener on Saturday 9/9 - Due to construction projects in and around The University of Akron, fans are encouraged to:

- Avoid Exchange St unless parking in Lot 6 or 36

- The Carroll St Exit on Route 8 is closed. Please use the Perkins Exit if using Route 8 North.

Recommended Directions:

- From the North: Fans using Route 8 take the Perkins or Carroll St Exit and proceed to Goodkirk St. 

- From the South: Fans using Route 8 from the South proceed to the Perkins Exit and take Goodkirk St towards campus. 

- From the East: Fans coming from the East should enter campus using the Carroll St or Buchtel Ave bridge crossing Route 8

- From the West: Fans coming from the West should enter campus using the Broadway St Exit and proceeding to Mill St or Market St

We are excited to have Zips fans back on campus for the fall sports seasons! Women's Volleyball opens their home schedule on September 8 hosting Harvard and Bucknell. The Football home opener is on Saturday, September 9 at 6pm as the Zips host Morgan State.

Please add your tickets to your mobile wallet prior to arriving on campus for any Athletics events to ensure ease of access for the game. 

CLEAR BAG POLICY

In alignment with many of the area's professional organizations, Akron instituted a clear bag policy in 2022 where approved bags include clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed a size of 12 inches wide by 12 inches high and 6 inches deep. Other approved bags include one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar), medical bags and small clutch bags approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap.

Prohibited bags include backpacks, binocular cases, camera cases, fanny packs, large-printed bags, mesh bags, purses and tinted plastic bags.

All bags or persons are subject to inspection by event staff and law enforcement.  Click here for more information.

PROHIBITED ITEMS
Aerosol cans, alcoholic beverages, animals (service animals assisting guests with disabilities are permitted), bags, commercial audio/video equipment and tripods, coolers and ice chests, hoverboards/skateboards, laser pointers, artificial noisemakers, laser pointers, signs larger than 2 feet by 3 feet, outside food and beverages, signs with inappropriate of offensive language and weapons are not permitted at Akron Athletic venues.  Click here for more information.
