Dan 5 - Probudi svoj engleski
Mar 24, 2025 7:26 am
Jutro :)
Danas želim da te pitam - What, for you is intensive reading and what is extensive reading?
Molim te, prvo proveri sa sobom šta trenutno misliš (veoma je važno za vežbu), a onda vidi šta kaže ovaj tekst.
Za danas ne treba da budeš detektiv, ali možeš da probaš da uživaš u čitanju ili u lepom izgovaranju reči :)
Defining Intensive Reading and Extensive Reading
Let's begin by dissecting the core concepts of intensive reading and extensive reading.
Imagine picking up a short, dense text, just 1-3 pages long. As you go through each line, you carefully examine every word, break down the grammar, and absorb new vocabulary. This is intensive reading—a close examination of the language, where you aim to understand every detail. It’s like being a linguistic detective, uncovering every nuance to grasp the text entirely. The process is rigorous, analytical, and geared toward a deep understanding.
Hence the name, intensive reading, you’re putting in a lot of effort to squeeze every bit of information out of that text. Much like a detective knows how to apply the pressure on a suspect, you’ll know when to put the pressure on… your book, that is!
Now, contrast that with extensive reading. Picture yourself lounging with a good book, enjoying the flow of words without obsessing over the meaning of every single one.
This is extensive reading—a more relaxed and enjoyable way to immerse yourself in the language.
It’s about breadth rather than depth, where you focus on the overall meaning and fluency rather than dissecting every grammatical structure. The point isn’t to apply pressure or to turn into a detective, it’s about entering a flow state where the details don’t matter.
You read large amounts of material, often at or slightly below your proficiency level, to build comfort and familiarity with the language.
Do sutra
