Hi !

The Saved by Starlight launch is only two weeks away! I can’t believe it’s finally here, to be honest. I conceived of these characters three full years ago. Lyro and Lena were always destined to be the final couple, the dark mirror of Lothan and Ada, their golden-child siblings who opened the series.

Lyro and Lena lived in a Notes file on my phone since their original conception. Their conversations invaded other books, interrupted my dreams, and popped into my head when I was supposed to be doing other things. I would dutifully jot them down and try to forget about them, but like an obsessed fated mate, they’d show up again to banter in my ear.

By the time I sat down to write their book, my file was overflowing with scenes and snippets of their time together. Writing this book has been less like my usual drafting and more like quilting pieces together.

If you are one of those who messaged or emailed after the first book came out, asking for Lyro’s story…thank you for your golden patience. I did my best not to squander it.

He shrugs like he doesn’t care one way or the other. “It’s a prison for you, too.”

“Stop it,” I say, digging my nails into my palms to distract myself from the panicky feelings that keep rising every time he rejects our connection or tries to twist it into something ugly. “I can’t take any more today. I need you to be nice to me right now. Please, can you pretend you like me for one minute?”

“I don’t like you.” Lightning-fast, he grabs my throat, pulling me close with a scary look on his face. He squeezes, cutting off my air. Is this how I die? “I’m obsessed with you. Addicted to you. Unable to breathe when I think of losing you. Sick about what I might have to do to you. Isn’t that enough?”
