Hi

Hello from a still hot and humid Sydney. I hope this email finds you well wherever you are in the world.

It’s been a busy month. I had my monthly local author meet up yesterday where a few of us get together to discuss all things writerly for support and advice. Up till now we’ve kept it very casual but last time we decided that before each meeting we’d write down our wins for the previous month, our goals for the next, and any issue we need the group to help us with.

I have to confess my initial reaction to this decision was not enthusiastic, but in actual fact it’s a really valuable exercise. I thought I hadn’t done much in January, but when I sat down and wrote out all the things that I’d done, I realised I’ve achieved a lot. I think we tend to get caught up in worrying about all things we haven’t done yet instead of celebrating those things we have. A lesson in life there, perhaps.

Or grab yourself an Advance Review Copy here:

A short review at your favourite retailer or on Goodreads would be wonderful – just a few words like “This is a great book,” or “I enjoyed reading this,” really helps gain new readers.

And I'm super excited to announce that the audio version of Out of the Ashes is almost ready – I should have the files in the next couple of days. Then I just need to do a final listen and it will be ready to go. I’m both thrilled and nervous about it, but I’m planning to do more recording as soon as the weather cools down enough that I can spend more than a few minutes in my recording studio without getting heat exhaustion! Next up will be The Last Goodbye.

What I’m Reading - Kindred

I haven’t read much fiction this month, but have just started Kindred, by Octavia E. Butler which has been on my list for a while. So far so good.

What I’m Watching – Slow Horses

Having loved Season One, I’m happy to report that Season Two is just as good. A bunch of misfit MI5 agents sent to a Slough House to atone for their mistakes are led by lovable rogue Jackson Lamb (played by the ever wonderful Gary Oldman). Brilliant.

Here are the links to my books. Have you read them all?

Historical Fiction

Another Time and Place

The Officer's Affair

Out of the Ashes

The King James Men

Till next time - happy reading!

Kind regards

Samantha
