Hi

Holiday greetings to you all wherever you are in the world. Sometimes, I’m astonished by the fact my books sell in so many countries, and it gives me the greatest pleasure to know that people are reading them in so many different places. It’s the strangest feeling, and rather wonderful that reading has such power to transcend borders.

As we approach the end of the year, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your continued interest in my novels – it really is what keeps me writing and publishing. Writing can be a lonely business, and I very much treasure the connection.

I think I mentioned last time that All That Remains was with the editor. I’ve now received his feedback and, regrettably, I still have a fair bit of work to do. I’m constantly impressed by his ability to put his finger precisely on what needs fixing. As an author, you’re so inside the work that you can’t always figure out what isn’t working. I had my suspicions it wasn’t right, but I just didn’t know what needed to be done. Now I do know, and I’ve made a start on the revision, but it might take a little longer than I was hoping.

I’m having a couple of weeks off from the day job over the holidays, so I’m looking forward to some much needed R&R. I’m planning to read books, watch movies, go bushwalking, do a little gardening, and not much else!

What are your plans for the holidays?

What I’m reading: There are Rivers in the Sky by Elif Shafak. A beautiful novel about three people who live beside great rivers, connected by a single drop of water and the shadow of Gilgamesh. Moving, thought-provoking and compelling.

What I’m watching: The Diplomat. Ambassadorial and political shenanigans in the American embassy in London. Lots of fun.

Stay safe. Hope you’re happy and well. And until next time, happy reading.

Here are the links to my books. Have you read them all?

Another Time and Place

The Last Goodbye

The Officer's Affair

Out of the Ashes

When the Light Still Shone

The King James Men

Kind regards
