If you pre-ordered it - thank you! I must admit to being a little nervous about this one – it’s my first novella, and the first book I’ve written as a dual timeline, so new territory on both counts. Early reviews however, are mostly positive (although one reader complained about typos, which sent me into a spin. But when I checked I couldn’t find a single one – I think perhaps she didn’t recognise the British spelling …)
I’ve now listened to the audio files for OUT OF THE ASHES, and there are just a couple of small issues to fix up. It’s very strange listening to your own voice for so many hours, and of course I’m hypercritical. But overall I’m very happy with it. I hope to have it up for sale in the next few weeks – I’ll keep you posted.
It’s still baking hot and raining now to boot! Can’t wait for the cooler weather to come! I hope you’re well and life is good wherever you are,
What I’m reading – The Lighthouse Witches by CJ Cooke
Set around a disused lighthouse on a remote Scottish island, this is an addictive dark and atmospheric novel that is hard to put down. I’m about half way through and loving it!
What I’m watching – The Bandits of Orgosolo
I recently discovered that the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney shows an eclectic range of free films on Wednesday afternoons, and for my first I saw this classic Italian film from 1961. Set in Sardinia, it explores the harsh world of a dying way of life. Beautiful, evocative and sad.
