Will Code generation become a real thing?

Ahoy!
This week, code generation is the hot big topic. Will then AI replace coders? Can it even code? I curated some info for you to make better decisions and to be able to stay critical in all the marketing flood.
🦉 Stability AI announces StableCode
Stability AI released a model to generate code on the local machine. The gray text corresponds to generated code. If the AI can't even generate a single class, how can it create a whole program? Is it even helpful to use AI, or will the ability of the coder to create and to fix bugs degrade? Is a technology useful that does not know a definite truth when you require error-free code?
🧐 AI usage might be linked to mental health problems
In a recent study, Pok Man Tang, PhD, investigated the impact of AI usage on the mental health of employees. The studies revealed AI’s impact on mental health, which consisted of individuals with higher levels of attachment anxiety. This was characterized by feelings of insecurity and concern about social connections, demonstrating stronger responses when working with AI systems.
👨🏻⚖️ Is regulation going to help?
Meanwhile, the EU is drafting a law to regulate AI. This was mainly initiated by the so called "AI-Doomerists" who established a cult of fear and apocalypse conspiracy theories in and about AI. Something that might eventually lead to the same monopolies we see in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry.
Should a computer program ever be regulated? How would this ensure our freedom?
I hope I could give you some places to start your critical thinking, and the newsletter provided you with some value. ⛵️
Truly yours,
Julian
