You can clearly see that the EU and UK do not invest large sums into AI. Only the USA is investing heavily. To me, it looks like FOMO. But what are your opinions? Is the EU falling behind?

🧐 But How real is AI

It might be that AI is not as capable as many in the field assume. The echo chambers resonate with stories about AI that are too good to be true. And it is dangerous. Imagine a teacher using AI with no ideas about the consequences for their children and country. The tool might become dangerous later on. The tool is, however, seldom reproducible and, thus, for scientific purposes not useful.

👨🏻‍⚖️ Is regulation going to help?

Meanwhile, the EU is drafting a law to regulate AI. This was mainly initiated by the so called "AI-Doomerists" who established a cult of fear and apocalypse conspiracy theories in and about AI. Something that might eventually lead to the same monopolies we see in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry.

Should a computer program ever be regulated? How would this ensure our freedom?
