daily life

i accomplished 2 things this week. first, my small PE fund bought out our minority partner at Lobiloo, a software product we own. negotiating with people you like, who like you too, is nice.

second, i collaborated with friends Adam, Austin, and Elena to create a modern rendition of Arirang, Korea’s [arguably] most famous song and unofficial national anthem.

the original is 100s of years old, in which a grieving woman tells the story of a husband traveling to Seoul to work for the king, but never returning. or as i like to call it, the Chosun era’s “leaving for a pack of cigarettes” classic anthem.

for my version i wrote 2 new verses in Korean/English, then dressed up like Eminem and performed it at my studio. we even submitted it to the Sing Sing Arirang competition. fingers crossed!

일상 생활

이번 주에는 특별한 과제 두개를 성공했어요. 첫 번째는, 어떤 동업자의 Lobiloo이라는 회사 주식을 인수했어요. 앞으로 이익은 다 저한테 분배될 거예요. 신나!

두 번째는 아리랑이라는 노래를 현대 스타일로 커버했어요. 민영, 오스틴, 팩트 덕분에 재미있었어요.
