A Couple of Opportunities
A Free Short Story
I don't write many short stories. Usually, it's only when I want to play around with an idea. I wrote Undeniable to explore the war between the Empire and the Kaileuk, which looms ominously in the background of all of the books in the Spirit Song Saga. I also wanted to discover how two Seidi sisters, Keelia and Flynn, became close. They are key characters in many of the books. Click the link above to download a pdf for free. I hope you enjoy it as much I did writing it!
Spirit Sight Volume One Promotion
The first book in the Spirit Song Trilogy, Spirit Sight Volume One, will be available on Amazon for 0.99 from January 30 thru February 4. It's the perfect opportunity to start an epic fantasy series. If you've read it already, feel free to spread the news.
What We've Been Up To
Winter finally arrived in Wisconsin, so we took a trip up to Sturgeon Bay in Door County (Wisconsin's thumb). It's a cute town with some great food. We got a lot of writing done and though there was no snow so we couldn't ski, we did hike in Potawatomi State Park.
It was cold!
We also took the Midwest Writing Adventure on the road to a much warmer place, one of our favorite destinations, Key West.
What We're Writing
Spirit Light Volume One
Last week I sent in the manuscript and cover design form to my publisher, Black Rose Writing. Now, it's a waiting game. The publication date is August 1, 2024.
"The Empire knows who Minna and Alyn Hunter are, what they are capable of and won’t rest until they are dead. But their mother saw a path to freedom before she died, and her daughters are determined to find it."
And in the silence, the tone rose and fell, weaving a melody that mirrored her movements, as if her sword were her baton and she the conductor. Distracted by the song, she let her body take over and slowly she began to take the initiative. Her hands anticipated his moves, almost as if they had their own mind. Then, with a leap of faith, she let her mind go blank and gave in to the song.
Desulti
Deb and I are working frantically to finish Desulti, the sequel to Argren Blue. It's due at the publisher on March 1, so the heat is on. We're excited about it, and our beta readers all say it's our best book yet.
Why did that witch always make things so complicated? She was right there in Tove’s room. She could have told her whatever she obviously wanted Tove to know herself.
