Hi there,
Here's my weekly update for September 7th, 2021...
🎥 MOT's + Final Push To Finish // EP31 // Rookie VW-T4
After four, yes, you read that right FOUR visits to MOT centres here in Northern Ireland, I've finally managed to get the camper sorted and road legal.
This video details the last push to complete my camper conversion, which includes fitting the new IKEA kitchen wall cupboard, tarting up the interior with some fairy lights, and finally doing the trim on my countertops (only took me like six months).
Anyway, my VW-T4 Camper Conversion is finally finished, and the wife and I are taking it out on the local beach here on the North West Coast.
Thank you for all your support over this past year, the comments, the feedback, the love, it's all be gratefully received.
The van life community is strong here in the UK, and I hope to see some of you on the roads of Ireland (both North & South) soon.

🎥 Gas Hooked Up // EP30 // Rookie VW-T4
I finally connected the gas hooked up to a regulator to fuel the main SMEV sink and hob, but not before I filled in the spaces in the gas bottle container with expanding foam to make an airtight space in case of leaks.
I'm super paranoid about dying from stupid mistakes, especially when it comes to stuff that can suffocate you or blow you up!
I also fitted a new vertical shelf to cover the water storage containers using magnet catches as well as fitting some cheap tyre pressure monitors to the van to track the slow puncture I'm sure I have in the rear driver's side tyre.
We even managed a little camping trip on top of a mountain again, this time with my son and his girlfriend.

🎥 Smev 8821L Sink & Hob Install // EP29 // Rookie VW-T4
I don't know about you, but getting this Smev 8821L sink and cooker hob fitted feels like this journey is coming to an end.
The 'build' is slowly morphing into tidying, maintaining, and fixing the van itself.
I've another set of cabinets to go in, I've some more trim and fabric to sort out, but the sink and cooker to me makes this VW T4 a camper, not just a van with a bed in it or a rolling tent.
What are your thoughts?
What was it that made you'd think you'd finally achieved what you set out to do?...
🎥 Side Indicator Nips Install // EP28 // Rookie VW-T4
I got the dreaded post-lockdown letter from the DVA telling me my MOT is up for renewal.
The search began to find a centre that would take the van within the 30-day allowance.
Little did I know I had less than 24 hours to get the van sorted.
A dash around the city to get headlights sorted and the anti-roll bar bushings were done, but I still need to sort out my side repeaters.

🎥 IKEA Splash Back & Table Mount // EP27 // Rookie VW-T4
I swear, watching this video back I'm such a waffling procrastinator.
I said I'd do the end bits of my countertops and I have STILL not done them, but what I did manage today was to nearly destroy a new IKEA kitchen counter splashback in the process of cutting it down to shape, and I learned something new, which I do share in this video.
I also found a space for my new tabletop when not in use.
I just wish the weather was a lot better today because I really really wanted to start my kitchen sink/cooker instal, but the rain didn't stop till this evening, so that's down for another weekend when I'm off.

🎥 New Alpicool G22 + Electrics // EP26 // Rookie VW-T4
Having struggled with keeping the beers cold in the van, as the only fridge I had was one of those power-hungry 12v Halford cool boxes, it was time to invest in something new and more practical in terms of power consumption and ease of setting up.
That's why I purchased a new Alpicool G22 Car Fridge, which is a 22 Litre Mini Fridge that runs off 12/24v (and mains power).
It also has a cool Bluetooth communication interface to allow you to monitor your internal temps as well as power consumption settings.
I also purchased a new iPad Pro holder to allow us to watch TV, that little holder simply hooks on the back of the chairs.
