It's time for another Moonshine Ridge mountain man!

Raine Hart begins our look at the Hart family (These are Mable's grand-kids) with one morning that starts off all kinds of grumpy and ends with happily ever after (of course!) with the curvy, young, barista who's recently brought fancy coffee to Moonshine Ridge.

Raine Hart

I couldn't care less about fancy coffee, but what I do like about having the new cafe open on the mountain is the curvy little thing brewing it.

The first time I set eyes on April Holloway, she looks like she could use a month of good meals and a good night's sleep.

I tell myself I'm just trying to help her out-- make sure her business takes hold here in a small mountain town where bearded men in flannel can't tell the difference between light and dark espresso roasts and don't care.

Or maybe it's the haunted look about her that I know all too well that has me wasting six dollars on a cup of coffee every morning.

All I know is that she stirs up something inside me that I never thought I'd get for myself and now I'll do anything to keep it. No matter how hard April pushes me away, I'll keep pulling her back.

Because now I know what it feels like to want to be alive.

April's fighting demons even darker than my own and I'll slay every one of them to claim my girl.

I'm so excited to start writing the Hart family! Throughout the series, it's become more and more clear how complicated their family dynamic is and I'm excited that we finally get to know them better.

Zephyr's book is in progress now and it's been so much fun to see her in all her very own story heroine glory and she's really challenging Augustus in the process.

In the crazy, nomad, personal life-- I'll be heading out of the heat and into the mountains. My friend in Colorado sent me pictures of the fresh blanket of snow they just got along with an invite to come camp in her driveway.

How could I refuse?

So next time you hear from me, I'll probably be wrapped in a blanket and drinking hot cocoa. And since I pretty much skipped winter this year by snowbirding it down in Arizona-- I'm ready!
