They Were Bugs, Not Features

Yup! Skipped another email last week! So I'm making it up by sending out a Sunday afternoon edition.

I write my emails late on Wednesday night-- because I'm an incurable night owl-- and schedule them to go out early Thursday mornings... my time, where ever I am.

And I intended to send out last week's email right on time. I suffered through yet another 90+ degree February day in the southern Arizona desert; I mean, what's up with that?!

I waited till the sun snuck around to the other side of the globe where it's supposed to be hot this time of year. Then I pulled out the laptop, fired up the wifi, and... BLAMMO! The monitor was like a beacon calling every lacewing in the state home.

Do you have lacewings where you are? If you don't know what I'm talking about and you're afraid to click the link (it's just the Wikipedia page and there aren't any jumpscare insect pictures,) they're these little, flying insects that are sort of a cross between a dragonfly and a moth. Their bodies are kind of a pretty shade of light green and they typically don't bother me.

Until there are FIFTY of them on my computer screen when I'm trying to type.

Uncool.

Even more problematic was-- why were there so many of the things inside the trailer with me?!

Then I looked up at the ceiling. If I thought there were a lot of the critters on my computer screen-- the ceiling was horror movie level.

So I had one of those slow, stationary, panic attacks as I took care of the problem with an unnatural level of calm-- and a fly swatter.

Oh yeah... fun fact about lacewings? They stink when you smash them.

I still don't know why there were so many little bugs on my side of the securely fastened bug screens or why they all thought the hobo house was the place to party, but no computer work got done that night.

I got back on the road the next day.

I have some business to look into in New Mexico which, of course, was supposed to have gotten done in January but pieces did not come together as expected.

Supposedly, it's going to be cooler there. I'll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, Milky Way season is beginning for us night owl shutterbugs here in the northern hemisphere... not that you can see it in this picture, but I liked this shot of the rig looking cozy and a little creepy at the same time among the Arizona cactus.

Writing Cave Update: It's been hot. There were bugs. I've spent the last 2 months waiting on other people to fulfill their obligations before I could even move-- since I didn't know if I was headed to New Mexico or back home.

So I've been grumpy and not making the progress on the WIP that I'd hoped for. Which has added to the grumpiness.

But hey! Check out the cute-- and oh so trendy-- covers for the Taste of Sugar paperbacks!

Yes, that does mean that the Taste of Sugar series is now available in paperback on Amazon.

That's everything for now, I'll be back on time this week with updates.
