Hello and Happy September, everyone!
I know it's been a long time since I started this little series of cute short stories and I don't blame you if you've completely forgotten them by now.
If you haven't read-- or can't recall-- the first two books in the Do-Over Pact Series, you can get caught up here:
The Last First Date: The Do-Over Pact book 1
But if you're ready to pick up where we left off, this is the moment you've been waiting for!
Book 3 in the Do-Over Pact series is NOW AVAILABLE on Amazon and Sierra and Trevor are excited to share their happily ever after with you in
The Last First Look
Sierra:
His voice is luscious. Deep and melodic with a hint of accent that's not from anywhere near here.
He takes my hand in his for a brief shake and lets go all too fast.
I liked the feel of his hand around mine. Warm and callused and large enough to make me feel dainty.
I don't feel dainty very often.
Spence is still rambling on about us missing each other at dinner last Saturday but Trevor's eyes are on mine in a way that makes me feel seen for the first time in my life.
Really seen.
"It was really nice to meet you," Trevor says quietly, as if he's telling me a secret, "I'm looking forward to seeing you again."
When Spence taps his boss on the shoulder and indicates he's ready to leave, it feels like they take the air out of the building with them.
For a long moment, I stand and stare at the empty place where Trevor was standing just a minute ago while I try to catch my breath and figure out what the hell just happened.
Trevor:
The woman that Spence calls "Sea" looks over at us and I forget to breathe.
She's not the kind of beautiful that Hollywood uses to sell everything from a blockbuster movie to toothpaste. She doesn't have long blonde hair or an hour glass figure. The woman climbing down from the ladder and making her way across the room isn't the ideal pin-up girl-- she's better.
With wild hair that can't be tamed by the single band attempting to hold it in place. Her unruly curls escape the elastic in multiple directions and there's bright orange paint caking a particularly ambitious strand that hugs her chin.
Her skin is tanned, her body is lean and strong, and all I can think is that "Sea" is the perfect name for a woman who looks like she's made of earth and waves.
Welcome to Landsburg:
Bottomless mimosas, bitchfests, and brunch.
That's what we do on Sunday mornings.
The Lakeside Laundry & Boat Dock Cafe is the quirky sort of place you'd expect to find in a much trendier city like Seattle or Portland-- or at least some place that actually had a lake.
But no. There's no lake, no laundry, and no boat dock but there is a pretty damn good cafe...
Welcome to Landsburg and five girlfriends who make a pact to step back, slow down, and get a do-over on their dating history.
From here on out, they're saving themselves for someone special.
The Do-Over Pact is the new series of short stories featuring a group of close girlfriends and the third-pitcher-of-mimosas decision they make during one Sunday brunch that ultimately kicks off the chain of events that leads them all to their happily ever afters.
It's amazing how fast the Right One shows up once you're done wasting time on all the wrong ones.
Well, it's been an insane 15 months since I hit publish on the second Do-Over Pact book back at the end of May 2020.
I really thought I was going to drop all 5 of these little books in short order back then.
But! For anyone who's been riding the Roxie newsletter train for long-- this life thing just keeps happening! (This is a good problem to have! I am not complaining!)
Looks like I'll be living the nomad life full time by the end of the month-- if I can just get my solar panels hooked up to the battery and figure out how to build a cabinet that doesn't fall apart as soon I move the trailer. Then you'll have to suffer through photos of my new "office" every couple of weeks.
That little stray puppy I found back in April? Well, he's 6 months old now and thanks to a doggie DNA test, I know that he's mostly Australian cattle dog-- with a pinch of German shephard and a dash of terrier and boxer thrown in.
That's what the DNA test said-- I still think he's full of Jumanji monkeys.
He's keeping me busy, mostly busy having a melt down. I just don't have the patience and the energy for another high maintenance herding breed anymore. (I had a gorgeous but stupid Australian shephard for many years. I swore I'd never do it again. That's what I get for taking in a stray, I guess.)
Little by little, he's training me to become a never-ending treat machine and I'm training him to LEAVE ME THE !#@! ALONE while I'm on the computer.
We're both making progress.
Which means that in addition to finishing up the Do-Over Pact (and having the entire series available by the end of September!) you can look forward a couple new Match-Maker books before the end of the year as well!
So stay tuned!
Thanks as always for tagging along on the adventure!
