The Last of the O'Leary boys is about to fall, but anyone in Slow River Valley will tell you that boy fell years ago; he's just been too dumb to do anything about it.

Till now.

Lancer O'Leary has been best friends with Mercy since they were in grade school. He's been in love with her since high school. He's been sure it's hopeless since she went to senior prom with another guy.

For anyone counting, that's over a decade of pining.

And Lance wasn't planning on ever fessing up to his bestie. He was planning on keeping his mouth shut and their friendship solid.

Until his three older brothers collectively vote that it's Lance's turn to represent the Delta O at the Farm and Ranch Association's annual event.

It doesn't make sense to Lance, all his brothers have women now-- built in dates for the formal charity dinner that wraps up the weekend. Why does he have to go?

At least Mercy agrees to go with him. It won't totally suck.

Except for the part where he has to spend a weekend sharing a hotel room with the woman he's in love with.

So there ya have it, we're in for a friends-to-lovers scenario with some more secret crushing. I'm still in the first half of the book, so I can't predict much more than I've already shared-- I know as much as you do! But I'm having fun figuring it out along the way.
