If you follow me on social media (Instagram, Facebook) you know I had an opportunity to accompany my BFF of 34 years to Kodiak, Alaska for a couple of months. (She's a respiratory therapist and had a traveling assignment.)

You may or may not also know that I actually finished another one of the Do-Over Pact stories while I was there and then dutifully jumped on to the next in line, only to get shut down by a couple of characters who promptly informed me that they would be having one of those second chance romance stories and not the story I had planned for them at all.

That really threw me off and I've only recently recovered and am starting their story over from the beginning now.

BFF and I faced a lot of drama on our trip to Alaska-- her hubby, who was holding down the fort back home-- had some serious health concerns and we didn't know if we were going to have to hop on a flight back home on a moment's notice or not; our housing, that was provided for us by the hospital, got caught in a minor (major) snafu and we got moved to a new apartment on a moment's notice; friends came to visit but some misunderstandings and poor communication led to hurt feelings and them finding a hotel room...at a moment's notice. (Am I the only one seeing a theme emerging here?) And then, once all the drama was over and we were planning our return to the lower 48 still without a good view of the enigmatic aurora borealis, the BFF and I planned a trip to Chena Hot Spring Resort-- on a moment's notice-- in hopes that Alaska would send us off with a good story to tell.

It was totally worth it.

I didn't find a sexy, bearded bush pilot of my very own in the last frontier, but I did run into a couple of ladies who assured me that dirty romance novels come true when I overheard (and maybe butted into) the advice they were giving their friend: "Marry the best dick you've had and you'll live happily ever after."

Hearing that they'd found the perfect combination of true love and fire chemistry really warmed my heart...or maybe it was the limoncello they were sharing? At any rate, I like knowing that it happens in real life and not just in books.

So here's my question:

Do you love romance novels that make you cry? And if so, why?

I've really been noticing this as a selling point for books lately and I'm just not one of those readers. I can't handle the stress. I like my romance books short, dirty, and maybe a tad silly.

Speaking of romance books: Y'all remember I'm working on converting a little cargo trailer into a home sweet tiny home on wheels so the view from the office will always be inspiring?

That project is kinda a top priority right now as, come end of summer, I won't have any other place else to call home.

But rest assured, I'm still fitting in new stories between the cracks of every day life and that includes a couple more match-maker books.

Now. If reality could just slow down and let me get some work done, that'd be great, wouldn't it?
