Just Your Standard 'I'm Behind Deadline' Update

Behind deadline and slacking on everything else too.

I arrived at the bestie's South Lake Tahoe cabin last week and promptly went grocery shopping, stocked up on all the necessary junk food that I need to write, and made sure the computer still remembered the WiFi password...and, as one would expect, real life immediately fell apart.

For the record: I am not a fan of "real life." I highly recommend avoiding it at all costs-- this is why I'm an author now.

Without going down the "too much information" rabbit hole-- I am an only child and my mother's health is deteriorating rapidly. It's a lot more complicated than it sounds and...getting more complicated.

Over the next few months I will be having to deal with a lot of stuff that I really don't want to be in charge of. I might be grumpy. Warning you now.

But let's talk about fun stuff!

I am pretty ga-ga over this promo image for the upcoming Diaz Family of Moonshine Ridge books.

I'm kinda ga-ga over the entire Diaz Family set of stories and I wish I could get them written faster! Or, at least, that I was able to hyper-focus and live in the stories while I write them like I usually do.

Alas...aforementioned "real life" is really bumming my vibe. So, as much as I'd like to be handing out new release links this week...here's a peak at Vale:

~Sparrow~

The first time Vale walked up to the bar and ordered a double rye on the rocks, I was done for: Black hair with just enough curl that it can't be tamed, the full, thick beard, and dark eyes that have a way of making me feel like he can see my very soul.

The man is scorching hot. The kind of hot that could keep me a hell of a lot warmer on these long, dark, mountain winter nights than the pitiful wall heater in the room at the lodge that came with my job here.

He's also sixteen years older than me, with strands of silver running through his hair and beard, lines at the corners of his eyes that crinkle when his eyes narrow with the scowl he always seems to wear-- and sisters that are the same age as I am.

No matter how I dream about this mountain man throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me off to his cabin to make me his own, I have to remember that he doesn't see me that way. To Vale, I'm just another baby sister to tease and protect. And I guess I'll take what I can get and fill in the rest when I'm alone under the covers at night.

...coming soon...

With luck, Vale and Sparrow will be living happily ever after very soon!

The weather here in Tahoe is perfect and if you check out any of my social media, you're sure to be looking at lots of pictures of the lake for the next few weeks.

I do plan to be back in the hobo house and headed south before the snow starts this year though.

Hopefully, I will manage to sort through the "real life" stuff as painlessly as possible. Wish me luck, I much prefer writing.
