I Hate it When a Plan DOESN'T Come Together

I had such dreams and aspirations for this newsletter. Alas...
The characters of A Promising Beginning and I have reached a stand off. Negotiations have broken down. It's chaos on the stage, the actors all refuse to mind their blocking. (Yes, that's kinda sorta how books come together in my brain.)
I finally had to tell the characters of this book to work out their issues with each other and contact me when they were ready to move on.
Meanwhile, I've decided to finally get around to watching Schitt's Creek. I think I have six episodes left. Hopefully our cast and crew of Promising Beginning will be ready to resume progress tomorrow when I check back in with them.
I'd hoped to be sharing a mouth watering little snippet from the book with you this week and offering a ETA of publication sometime before Halloween.
Instead...I can only offer anecdotes of my personal life-- which is woefully dull at the moment so maybe you should go watch Schitt's Creek too.
Or, tell me what else is on your Kindle besides Rocklyn Ryder books! I'd love to know what other authors and genres/niches you love to read while I'm busy wrestling my muse.
Sorry for the delay folks but it'll all work out. Just not on the schedule I'd had planned.

Aside from taking advantage of having reliable internet so I can binge watch shows that I should have watched a long time ago and arguing with voices in my head-- er, I mean, characters in my books-- I've been envying slash pitying the BFF who is already over in D.C. inspiring a slew of fish-out-of-water romance tropes as she sends me daily messages about how she's handling the culture shock of life three miles from the White House after a lifetime of being a west coast kinda gal.
I'd love to head out and keep her company now, but I have things to do on this side of the country before I can join her for the freezing cold Washington DC winter.
I'm still enjoying the sunny Lake Tahoe afternoons in her cabin while she's trying to adjust to life without a car.
As soon as A Promising Beginning is wrapped up, I'll check off the next few things on my to-do list and head her way. Then my personal anecdotes should get more entertaining.
I, for one, can't wait!
As an author, I'm sure I'm not supposed to play favorites with my book-babies. I'm supposed to proud of every single one of them and market them with cheer and enthusiasm-- right?
Well, I flat out admit that the Taste of Sugar series is not my finest work: I mean, the characters are great, they all get their happily ever afters and I think the stories are all pretty decent in the "rescued from trying circumstances" department.
Most importantly; they were incredible cathartic to write.
If you haven't read them yet, give them a try before the prices go back up:
These aren't your traditional sugar daddy stories. These are stories about real life women hitting real life rock bottom, and their attempts to pivot in hopes of getting back on their feet.
Arrangements of convenience have a strange way of rescuing more than just damsels in distress in these light-hearted trips to happily-ever-after.
Short on drama, long on happily-ever-after, the Taste of Sugar Romances follow Rocklyn's usual pattern of staying short, cute, and a little dirty with no cheating and guaranteed happy endings!
