Back in the Saddle!

Hello again!
Well, it's been another couple weeks of personal drama and adventure here in the American southwest.
OF COURSE I dragged my grumpy self out of bed at the crack of dawn (literally, it turned out) to see the annular solar eclipse from Baker, Nevada!
This is my second solar eclipse (not counting that partial nonsense that they made us watch through a shoebox back in the 4th grade) and the first one I've tried to photograph-- not too shabby, I think?
This was an "annular" eclipse and my astronomy is a little murky but, as you can see, instead of completely blocking the sun, this eclipse leaves a "ring of fire" showing around the moon's silhouette. Which is pretty cool.
But you're probably thinking, "Yadda yadda, Rox, I didn't subscribe to a astro-photography list! I want to know when I get a new book!"
Soon! The good news is that Vale and Sparrow will be kicking off the Diaz family set of the Moonshine Ridge Mountain Men series by the end of the month!
Really. I mean it. I'm seriously that close to having the story finished (she lies, bravely.)
LOL. No really. It's a lot easier for me to concentrate on the writing when I'm out here in the middle of the desert where I'll have to take the phone for a walk to get enough signal to send this email to you!
Much less distraction from all that annoying "reality" stuff going on out there.
Here's a picture of the literal crack of dawn from just outside the adorable and delightful, very small town of Baker, Nevada near Great Basin National Park on October 14. Worth a visit if you're ever passing through, even when there's not an eclipse.
One of my bits of author-related drama was discovering that the form to join the mailing list on my website had stopped talking to the actual mailing list. Oh joy!
This means that I got to spend some quality time cursing into the desert night while trying to reconcile information from multiple spreadsheets and straighten the mess out.
I have lived a joyfully spreadsheet-free life until I started writing, so you can imagine the cursing I was able to accomplish.
With that being said: Welcome, new subscribers who haven't been getting email for up to three months! Please make yourselves at home; shenanigans will arrive approximately weekly in the vicinity of Thursday. But I am a nomad who thinks Starlink is ridiculously expensive, so everything schedule-related with me ends in "ish."
