The Fine Art of Being Easily Distracted

You know...while I was writing The Cowboy's Close Quarters Claim, I often thought about how Clementine was shaping up to remind me of a character from the (yeah, old) television series, Northern Exposure.
That show was one of my favorites and while I was writing Clem, I thought about Officer Barbara Samanski-- and how it's been a very long time since I watched Northern Exposure.
That's partly because I rarely watch anything anymore (except for a few YouTube channels dedicated to telling me Big Foot stories while I'm camped in the woods.) It's partly because the US DVD release of the series did not include the original music from the show-- which really took a lot from the experience in a lot of cases, and partly because laptop computers don't come equipped with DVD drives anymore-- and I've never learned how to transfer my DVDs to video files that I can keep on my hard drive.
Anyway, I almost went off on a tangent about the show, the character that Clem kinda reminded me of (just a bit, mind you,) and got all nostalgic on you while highly recommending anyone who's never seen the show-- watch it, original music or not.
In one of those (cue Twilight Zone theme) crazy twists, very shortly after I spared y'all this story-- the subject of Northern Exposure came up in one of my circles, when a few of my colleagues were discussing the ways they've been trying to protect their mental health these days...one of them has starting watching Northern Exposure.
Whoa! Like...I was just thinking about that show!
And it's something that never comes up in my circles unless I'm the one who brings it up.
That coincidental mention led to a discussion (where I was a drooling fanatic fangirl, because-- favorite show ever,) and that led me to do some fangirling which led me to discover that it is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
That led me to a head-first dive down the "original music" rabbit hole, which led me to learn that-- although the new streaming version isn't 100% original, the soundtrack has been restored to almost original.
And now I'm already on season 4.
The good news is that there were only 6 seasons, so it's very likely that I'll be able to sleep and get back to real life (ahem; finishing The Cowboy's Temporary Solution) in a couple more days. Tops. Before I start over at the beginning and binge the series again.
I made my pilgrimage to Rosyln, Washington in 2008.
But seriously-- I actually am spending time in the writing cave. I'm also working my way through the tedious process of putting ducks in rows and getting older books up for sale on multiple stores-- this week it was Google that told me I don't own my book. They seem to have gotten over it now, though so it looks like things are moving forward on that project.
We were promised snow here in Fallon tonight-- but it hasn't started happening yet, so we'll see. Last night it was 5 degrees. Fahrenheit. That is cold. But I did get to watch the full moon rise over the mountains east of town while I was driving back from the nearest Starbucks drive thru (it's 28 miles away, FTR.) The moonrise was hands down one of the most stunning I've ever seen, so that was cool. Wish I'd had the camera with me.
I have to put several flat-packed pieces of furniture together over the weekend-- all part of earning my keep in the house remodel-- but I'm also about 84% sure I'll have The Cowboy's Temporary Solution wrapped up sometime next week.
