I Might be Slacking Still but I have a Desk!

It's temporary, but it works.

This "rebuild my tiny hobo house" project is yawning out into infinity. I blame the weather. I grew up in central California, we had two seasons there: HOT and Foggy.

Landing in Fallon, Nevada has been a lesson in weather. Even the weather up at Lake Tahoe wasn't this inconsistent.

A couple of weeks ago, it was in the mid 90s here, the next week, it snowed. Now we are on day two of three days of rain-- and I have to do all the construction work outside, so, as much as I actually love rain, it's for sure cramping my style at the moment.

So, the biggest development in my update is that I have a temporary desk top in the corner that will eventually become a really nice writing cave.

Note: the image shows my laptop open and sitting on the board that used to be my gorgeous blue table, in front of an open door with the treed yard beyond... not cave like at all.

I wrote a lot of books on that blue board over the last 5 years! But it's destined to get scrapped once I get to the new countertops and desk project. Which is last on the list, so the blue-table-turned-desk will be with us a while longer.

This does mean that I will be getting back to writing now. Slowly, because my daylight hours are still dedicated to being covered in sawdust and watching carpentry videos on YouTube, but it's been so nice get back into the WIP for a little while at the end of the days this week.

Except yesterday, because it was raining, so I binged watched last season of Only Murders in the Building because it had been languishing on my to-do list for 6 months already.

And don't expect me to make any progress on anything for the next 36 hours or so, because the final book in Jolie Vines's Skeleton Crew series drops today, so I will be binge reading all three books for however long that takes.

I do not take suspense well, so I've been waiting till the series wraps up. And I am what I refer to as a "full immersion" reader, so the world will cease to exist until I have finished the series. Then I will need to sleep.

I will snack while I read though. One requires sustenance to put in the kind of hyperfocus required to read for that many hours without blinking.

So I should be building upper cabinets and working on Caspian's book (FINALLY!) by Sunday.

I was going to have back list updates to share-- like new paperbacks, or maybe finally having Moonshine Ridge Lumberjacks bundled up, but I legit keep forgetting what day it is (which is why I spaced out on the email last week;) so the Master To-Do List has a lot of things that need to get checked off.
