Get snacks. Put the phone on do not disturb. Grab a cozy blanket and get settled in; I'm going to ramble on for entirely longer than is professional for an author newsletter.

First; WELCOME to everyone who's new to the newsletter! I hope everyone who's recently found me sticks around for awhile. I'm excited to have you here!

Next; Wow. We just put another calendar on the fire and flipped the new one open. How's everyone getting settled in so far?

Yeah. Me too.

Which is why I'll be pouring all my attention into the books this year.

I know I left Caspian's story hanging by the fingernails at the end of Unreliable Witness and you are not the only ones who are eager to find out how that works out!

But I am so busy putting the business side of this author gig into order for the new year (and beyond) that I have to divvy up my time between the Rogue Ops team and-- side-eyes this pile of "admin" tasks needing to be tackled-- other stuff.

I wanted to share some of my plans for the future of my writing-- namely, I'm kinda over writing to the two hour or less market. Sorta. Probably.

Everyone who's been here since the early days, knows that I'm not a "full length novel" kinda author. Even my official novel length books barely squeak across the word count requirements.

It's been fun to play in the 100 pages or less sandbox for the last few years. It's gotten me back in focus and kept me releasing new stories on a pretty consistent schedule.

But these Rogue dudes, man... They've got me itching to break free and just let the stories be as long as they want to be.

One of the back end projects I'm working on is the super secret move to offering my books in more places than just Amazon. (Don't worry, die-hard KU readers! I have a plan!) And part of that project has me revisiting ALL of my old books.

I've mentioned before that I have more Raven Swann (Modern Match-Maker) stories asking to be told, and there have been several more "Wild" romances (Bush Wood, etc) also waiting their turn for years now. (Is this year we learn Raven's origin story?)

So, after the current Rogue Ops series wraps up-- look forward to going old school for awhile. (Cackles while gleefully rubbing hands together:) I have so many ideas!

Santa brought me a Starlink satellite dish and a new phone plan with unlimited hotspot data-- These things mean that I will be "off grid" far less now. (I mean, the hobo house is off grid, I really mean off-line.)

So the big project that I would like your help with is a reader group. I would love to spend more time getting to connect with you-- my readers-- beyond just me rambling in these weekly emails.

So tell me:

  • Are you interested?
  • What platform would work best for you? Facebook? Patreon? Discord? Something I've never heard of because I live under a rock as much possible? Let me know!
  • What do you even do in author reader groups?

The newsletter will be back to its regular programming on Thursday morning after this-- I was busy keeping up with friends in various time zones while counting down for New Year's Eve and never got around to it on Wednesday night.

I don't have anything ready to share of my own just yet (Caspian's book is coming though!) so check out the links below for some great freebies to kick off the new year in style!
