I love enemies-to-lovers. But it has to be done right!
For example, I recently finished reading An Ember in the Ashes and A Torch Against the Night.
Don't get me wrong, these were fantastic books. I'm already flying through the third one and I don't know if I'll be able to wait until December when book 4 comes out! 😭
However, I really wanted this to be more of an enemies-to-lovers. He's a Mask, she's a Scholar - they are technically enemies. But there was way too much insta-love for it to be a proper enemies-to-lovers. Sure, the tension and resistance was there, but there was too much breathtaking, soul-searching, penetrating stares between the two where they sensed a bond even though they barely knew each other. You can't really do enemies-to-lovers when it's love-at-first-sight 😂
If you want a great enemies-to-lovers, I highly recommend Serpent & Dove - and the sequel recently came out too!
