Sometimes a Chapter Is a Whole Book.

By the time you’re reading this, I’m traveling — probably with a notebook in my bag and snacks within reach — so I thought I’d share something cozy with you this week.
One of my all-time favorite comfort movies is The Decoy Bride with David Tennant and Kelly Macdonald. I fell in love with the windswept island setting and the accents first. Truly, you may need subtitles the first time. But by the second watch? You’ll be quoting it. There are lot's of fun ones, and some that are heart-achingly lovely.
For example:
“A chapter can be a book.”
And the line that gets me every time:
“I'll still love you when the wind's dried you out, and when you're old and broken.”
Isn’t that lovely? And painfully true? Tender in that quiet way that sneaks up on you.
If you need a cozy night in, this is your sign. Pour something warm. Invite a friend over. Let the accents wash over you and see if you don’t fall a little bit in love with the whole thing.
Sugar Creek Moment
The snow doesn’t disappear all at once — it retreats. Patches of earth peek through. Boots get muddy. Jackets unzip. The air smells different, like change is on its way and not asking permission.
I love this in-between season. Not quite winter. Not quite spring. Just the quiet promise of what’s next.
Tell me — what’s your go-to comfort movie?
Until next week,
River

One porch light. One unspoken promise.
Every evening, the glow from Emma Grace's porch whispers a message to the town of Willowbend: you belong. It’s a message of faith, friendship, and fresh-baked pie. But it’s a message the town’s reclusive newcomer, Jacob Mills, refuses to hear. Faced with Jacob's wounded silence, Emma's gentle nature was put to the test. Could her warmth bring hope back into his life? For in the steady gleam of a porch light, a broken man may find his way out of the darkness, and two hearts may just find their way home.
