What if we said it out loud?

Hi ,

I’ve been spending a lot of time behind the scenes with The Sugar Creek Blame Game, and one theme kept surfacing as I wrote: how often we leave the important things unsaid.

Not just in romance—but with family, friends, the people who steady us day after day.

Why do we do that?

Is it fear of rocking the boat?

Fear of being misunderstood?

Fear of needing more than we’re ready to admit?

This week, I’m sitting with the idea that so many moments of connection are missed not because we don’t care—but because we hesitate.

So consider this a gentle challenge, for me and for you: Choose one moment of vulnerability this week. Say the thing that’s been lingering quietly in your chest. Tell someone you love them. Or that you admire them. Or that you’re grateful they’ve been there, steady and constant, even when life felt unbalanced.

Those words matter more than we realize—and they’re never wasted.

A Sugar Creek Moment

The house creaks softly as the temperature drops. A fire crackles low, blankets pulled close, knees tucked together. Outside, the wind howls—but in here, the world is small and safe. Sometimes love looks like grand gestures. Sometimes it’s just staying in.

Wherever this week finds you, I hope you’re brave enough to love boldly—in the quiet ways and the spoken ones. The ones that linger long after the moment passes.

Warmly,

River
