They said the internet was “Baloney.” Here we go again…

In 1995, Newsweek published an article by Clifford Stoll trashing the internet.

He wrote:

“Baloney. Do our computer pundits lack all common sense? The truth is no online database will replace your daily newspaper, no CD-ROM can take the place of a competent teacher and no computer network will change the way government works.” https://www.newsweek.com/clifford-stoll-why-web-wont-be-nirvana-185306

Fast forward → everything he dismissed has been completely flipped upside down:

  • Newspapers? Dead. Replaced by online databases, blogs, and social feeds.
  • Teachers? Online courses, YouTube, and AI tutors now educate millions daily.
  • Government? Entirely reshaped by social media, digital activism, and yes, online networks.

He missed the point. The same way most people are missing AI right now.

Here’s the kicker: what the internet did in 30 years… AI will do 10x faster.

If you think this won’t touch your industry, your job, your income… you’re making the same mistake Clifford Stoll made.

The internet created millionaires.

AI will mint billionaires.

The only question is: will you be on the sidelines… or in the game?
