I launched my first business model in 2008, that's 12 years ago if you're counting, and while I had an idea that I needed to find a way to connect and communicate with potential customers, building an email list wasn't one of the ways I thought about when I first started.

I was a few years into my business before I even started thinking about using email as a way to market to potential new clients and when I did start I struggled, like most of us do. I had a hard time getting new subscribers, until I participated in a giveaway event and I gained 600 new subscribers, all looking for my services.

You've likely heard it before, but I really do regret not launching my email list sooner. For me, it how I gain 90% of my new clients, the rest usually come through referrals.
