Point of view

Writing characters is fun sometimes

image

Hello ,

There's a saying I love: A point of view is just that, the view from a point.

Yes, somewhat obvious, but it reminds me just how much of an interpretation of events is up to the character viewing it. Morality can look very different to a Lawful Good vs. a Chaotic Neutral.

The reason this is on my mind is because book 4 and 5 (like book 3 and 3.5) take place in the same time frame (almost) and there are some scenes that overlap and are seen in both. They're big scenes, and important so I was a little hesitant in writing them out a second time in case it gets repetitive.

I shouldn't have worried. Like I said, it's a lot about HOW it's seen by the different characters. For Tia, it's all business: Here's the military, we're in trouble. What are the consequences of this and how do we get out of it with everyone still alive.

You may or may not be surprised to know that Anna's viewpoint is more like this: Oh look there's Windblade. I should steer clear of him because though he's strong like Angel, he doesn't have complete control over his winds, and sometimes he blows away friends as well as enemies. And that has to be Ribbons. He looks taller in person. I wonder if he's still mocked for his name at the Lookout.

Anna has priorities. And fangirling is one of them.

Other stuff:

3.5 is out: If you missed it, the link is below. Currently only 99c, it details Anna's side of the story. At least 50% more fangirling than Book 3 guaranteed.
