I love puns. A lot. I saw the "Sleighing goals" on another email I was sent and laughed far harder than I should have, so I included it here in the hopes that someone out there would find it as funny as I did. To those people who had a chuckle.... I like you.

You don't know what you don't know

For those who were not aware, I am Australian, whereas Undercity Heroes is set in America. It makes some things interesting, particularly with phrasing. 

For example pasties, small pies and sausage rolls are common here. Whereas a friend of mine was reading through 'Rebels' and told me they really weren't a thing over there. At this point, it was four days (I think) before release and I was told that most Americans heard of pasties and savory pastries in Harry Potter and might think they're about as real as butterbeer.

Awesome. Just what I wanted to know.

So for anyone wondering, that's why there's a whole one sentence explanation of what pasties are.

Why Undercity Heroes is set in America

It's one of the other questions I have been asked by people who know me personally, is why the books are set in America, rather than here. And honestly, there's a really simple explanation.

There's already a set of books set in this world in Australia.

It was the first set of books I plotted out (and half wrote) in this world. Australia, and deals with a barrier/enhancement mage called Maddison from Singapore who joins the Australian military. I'm getting that series into shape (slowly) so you might see it some time (far off in the future).

Either way, with my home country taken out, and heroes being more of an American thing than a NZ thing, I decided that Heroes would be set in America, and low enough in America that I'd never have to deal with snow, because... Australian here. We don't do snow. Though it does sound cool (100% intentional pun).
