“It doesn’t matter now, obviously.” Wilder met her tart words with a severe frown. One lifted eyebrow and big, brawny crossed arms completed his look.
“Is that so? Well, I’m sorry to inform you that your lack of explanation won’t be good enough. Now tell me what was so important that you’re trying to cause an argument just as you leave? It isn’t because it makes it easier for you to leave, is it? Because Daddy will spank your ass, little girl, if you try that with me. You got that straight?”
Harper’s lower jaw dropped. “Daddy? Look, I’m sorry I—”
Wilder never lost his momentum. He proved once again he wasn’t one to hold back when he was optimistic and seemed way more confident than she that wanted his kind of daddy as he continued with a firm chastisement.
“You heard me. I enjoy it when you use that endearment. I’ve decided that I’d like to hear it from you when you’ve earned a lecture or worse. And don’t change the subject.”
“I’m not calling you Daddy.” Harper blushed amidst her attempt at being adamant.
“No?”
He stepped close, threaded his fingers in her hair and clenched, using that hold to draw her even closer for a kiss, slow, deep, and panty melting. Raising his head slightly, his hot breath bathed her face, his tongue traced her lips and teased her inner sweetness.
“It was a mistake. I-I can’t.”
“You already have, baby.” Little kisses covered her jaw and down her neck. It was cold, but her inner flames melted any chill she had. He nipped the curve of her shoulder.
He whispered his command. “Do it again. Say, ‘yes, Daddy’.”
