My career had eaten up so much of my time that I completely overlooked two people wanting to be with me. I’d make it up to them somehow. Furthermore, I’d make it up to myself.
Right. Because I have time for a complication like that in my life.
Until an injury sidelines me, making me the center of attention for both men. And as they take turns doting on me, it becomes clear my new Daddies aren't just interested in me, but each other as well. It isn't long before the simmering tension between the three of us boils over into a scorching hot passion.
But we have history, mistakes we have to forgive before we can truly become a family. And if we can't, I'm not sure my heart will survive choosing between them...
I had a lot of things to sort out before making our triad a reality. Lucky for the two of them, I had a lot of patience and a knack for handling brats.
Excerpt:
“I could get used to this,” Marissa cooed, breaking the silence. “I barely have time to stuff food in my face at work. The idea of two handsome men feeding me has never crossed my mind.”
“Why are you hiding out in here, Rissa?” Tatum questioned, a lilt in his voice.
“I did something dumb. Jesse is baby-sitting me.”
“I sure wouldn’t mind having Jesse baby-sit me.” He winked before feeding Marissa another spoonful.
“Watch it, Tate,” I countered, keeping my tone light. “My schedule is free the rest of the weekend. I don’t think you can handle me.”
“I used to ride broncos.” Snickering, he pushed up the sleeves on his sweatshirt. “If you think I can’t hang on for eight seconds…”
“Whoa!” Marissa kicked his shin playfully. “I don’t need that fantasy in my head.”
“Why, ‘cause you know you’ll like it?” Tatum grinned.
She wordlessly pointed at the food.
“Ever think about it, Rissa?” He scooped a mouthful of barbeque beans onto the spoon but didn’t offer it to her.
Marissa stared at him in utter silence, her cheeks flushed. Tatum cocked his head to the side, likely thinking that he’d won this round. She grabbed the spoon and stuffed it into her mouth before dragging it out and licking the back of it. No one enjoyed beans that much, not even Emma’s delicious recipe, which included bacon and secret spices.
“I have thought about it, Tate,” she finally responded. “What do you say?”
“The last time I made a move on you, darling, you flat out refused.” Tate rolled his eyes.
“No way,” Marissa argued, drunkenly.
“Senior year of high school,” he prompted her to remember.
I knew where the story was leading. In our small ass town, nothing was private. Luke and I graduated the year before, so we took Tate and his other single buddies out to the middle of a field to drink away our worries instead of going to the overpriced dance. What I didn’t know was how Marissa felt about the whole thing.
“Prom?” Marissa blew out a breath. “Ugh. All my girlfriends wanted to go stag and at the last minute, every single one of them secured a date. They left me all alone.” She worked her lip in between her teeth. “I regretted not saying yes to you the whole night.”
Plucking the spoon out of her hand, I filled it with more beans and fed it to her. “You will not feel better if you don’t eat, remember?”
“Yeah, but I’ve been holding that apology in for a while.” Her eyelids drooped. “I haven’t been making such great choices lately.”
Her statement echoed dangerously close to the words she’d said the night after I hauled her away in my squad car a decade ago. It raised all sorts of alarms in my head. Shit. I had a terrible feeling her situation was worse than she’d led on.
Tatum took the fork from my other hand, stabbing two more pieces of hamburger and offering it to her. “I forgive you, Rissa. It’s important to do what you were told.”
“I accidentally mixed meds and alcohol,” Marissa sighed.
“I see.” He nodded. “Well, Jesse is right.”
“I usually am,” I quipped, unable to let the moment slide.
“And you’re so humble.” Tate shook his head. “How are you single, man?”
“High standards,” I threw back at him. “I’m also a stickler for rules.”
Quirking an eyebrow, he studied my face for a full thirty seconds. “What sort of rules?”
“My rules. If you’re interested, we can pick this up another night, Tate.”
Marissa cleared her throat. Tatum and I had a pile of food on our respective utensils, holding them just out of her reach. She wrapped her hands around our wrists, forcing us to her mouth.
“You like them two at a time, huh?” Tate chuckled as she ate.
“It’s on my bucket list.” Marissa licked her lips. “Sounds like we’d all win.”
“I’m game, darling. Name your time and place.”
