Where did Jesus find you? You were dead when He found you. He made you alive in Him. His Spirit regenerated you so that you could respond to Him. Our natural propensity is to think that we found Jesus. We looked for Him. We blessed Him by becoming His child. We are so wrong. No one comes to Him unless the Spirit draws them. The natural inclination of humanity is against or away from God.

Well, Christian, you are now His. Now what? We think we can skip happily off to heaven. Instead, we see this teaching by Jesus that calls us to continually lay down our lives for Him. Put away all your fleshly desires. Renounce all your God ignoring activities and follow Jesus.

The future is assured, but you are called to live a life surrendered to Jesus today.

He is worth every second of suffering, persecution, pain and disappointment. He is worth every second of toil, betrayal, sorrow, and rejection.

If you struggle with the cost of following Jesus, spend more time with Jesus, and your struggles will have meaning, and your heart will be calm in the midst of life’s storms. Set aside time every day to be with Jesus. The disciples never regretted a second spent with Jesus, and they gladly carried their own crosses.
