It's World Menopause Day...Take a Read

Today, 18th October is World Menopause Day and it's all about breaking the stigma associated with it.

The theme for this year is Cognition and Mood aka Brain Stuff.

Since completing the 3rd Age Menopause Transition certification, I realised that this shift causes some interesting changes. Some I knew about but the one that I didn't know about was the brain. It's also a magical time where you can do things that will help this recalibration process. You get a chance to have a new brain in a sense, once yuh do de right things!

Anyhow I wouldn't go into too deep detail right now about the brain action but I really wanted to let you know that this phase is nothing that you should fear. Tuh tell yuh de truth, I used to fear it until I came across a wonderful lady who is also my friend Angie Garton who made me see differently.

Instead of fearing it, I have embraced it and I will be prepared especially now that I have reached 40. It is going to happen regardless so ah ready!

For those of you who have already transitioned, this is the time to still be VERY focused on wellbeing. NOTE I said wellbeing and not weight loss. Weight loss happens when you focus on your wellbeing.

Wellbeing involves you entirely, your body, mind and soul. It's also a time when you realise that certain things don't phase you as much, you get a sense of not giving two wukups.

So let's stop thinking that menopause is the end of the world. For many, it's a new beginnning.

Yuh ain't old and cold, yuh wise and saucy!

P.S For one of my projects for my Msc In Public Health, I will be focusing on an "issue" related to the perimenopause to menopause phase. Wunna about to see me talking NUFF.
