Love Begins with You

Dear Reader,

As February unfolds with its pink and red hues, we’re surrounded by reminders of love. But this month, I want to invite you to embrace a different kind of love—the love you extend to yourself.

For many of us, especially those walking the road of healing, self-love can feel elusive. It’s not about grand gestures but the gentle, consistent care you give yourself each day.

1. Listen to Your Needs

Take a moment to ask yourself: What do I truly need today? Is it rest? Time in nature? A favorite meal? Honor those answers without judgment.

2. Speak Kindly to Yourself

Our inner dialogue shapes the way we see ourselves. Replace self-criticism with kindness. Start with one simple affirmation: I am worthy of love.

3. Celebrate Small Victories

Healing is not linear, but every step forward—no matter how small—is worth celebrating. Treat yourself with the same patience and pride you’d show a dear friend.

This Month’s Reminder:

You are not defined by what has happened to you but by the love and care you nurture within yourself. It’s in those moments of self-compassion that your strength and beauty shine brightest.

Here’s to a February where love starts with you.

With warmth and encouragement,

Natania Smit
