NEWS32 I wrote a NEW book! 😎
Oct 01, 2021 10:14 am
Dear friends,
It's finally time to let out the big secret!
I wrote a book!
You read that right! I wrote a brand-new, never-heard-of-before book that no-one has heard of yet. Take it as an end-of-the-year surprise gift. 😎
"What is this book?" you ask. "Is it EXOSTAR?"
Hum... no.
Don't be mad at me. I know I have been promising you EXOSTAR, but EXOSTAR is part of a series, and that takes more time to develop. While I was planning out EXOSTAR, I figured I could "quickly" write this novel "on the side". Ahem... Except, there is no such thing as "write quickly". This novel is 90,000 words and had me completely absorbed for months. Authors have to listen to their muse: when inspiration strikes, we have to go with the flow!
"You still haven't said what this book is about."
Read on! I have MANY EXCITING THINGS to share with you in this newsletter, so make sure to read until the end!
1. The Knowledge Seeker
On NOVEMBER 18th, 2021, I will publish The Knowledge Seeker. This 90,000 word, young-adult, dystopian novel is not related to the Ben Archer series.
Termite is a sixteen-year-old boy who has dreamed of becoming a Knowledge Seeker all his life. He dreams of saving ancient books from the ruins of our civilization, which perished 600-years ago.
Virtual information has vanished, along with electricity, and only the information in the books could pull survivors out of a second Dark Ages.
But knowledge is power, and the Wraith King knows this all too well. He will stop at nothing to become the sole master of this knowledge, with the aim of submitting humanity to servitude.
When Termite becomes the last Seeker, he must find a way to spread knowledge back to the world, or die trying.

What's up in the neighbourhood?
We are practically back-to-normal: that means schools are open and we are seeing friends again, which feels GREAT!
That said, the weather is terrible, which is fine because we had a lovely summer and it's time for some rain. Also, I find that autumn is a great time to be productive, so that's what I plan to do.
I will say that I got treated to a beautiful sunset on my birthday on September 9th, and we got to see the last blooming sunflower-fields in Chilliwack.
October 2021 reading list
Harriet Hall and the Miracle Cure by Sonia Garrett
An animal-loving kid displaced by the war. An unlikely ally among the trees. A heart-stopping secret threatening to poison her life.
1940. Harriet Hall is desperate for a friend. Evacuated from London with her ailing mother and sent to live with her unruly Canadian relatives, the independent twelve-year-old is tired of the turmoil. And with her cousins driving her crazy, her mom’s latest hurried trip to the hospital is enough to send the lonely girl running into the forbidden forest… and straight into a sympathetic sasquatch.
Ecstatic to finally have a companion, Harriet is overwhelmed when the creature shows her a cabin where her parent’s doctor conducts strange experiments. And revealing the truth to save her sickly mother means putting herself in harm’s way.
Can Harriet and her wild ally defeat the evil adult before it’s too late?
The Ghost of Creepcat by AJ Vanderhorst
Track the ghost cat! Step into the shiny sneakers of the irrepressible Lila Banks as she follows her cat Orangesicle—and fights to survive the night—in a forest where trails move around, strange creatures prowl, and pets are not always what they seem.
When Lila takes a hike on her twelfth birthday, she doesn't expect to be stalked by the ghost of her recently-deceased cat. He was never very nice, but trying to eat her takes unlikable to a whole new level.
Where Weavers Daire by R.K. Bentley
Ten years after the last war, Melinda Scott discovers something in deep space and is dragged back into a world her family was banished from. Now with Necromancers to her left, Liches to her right and humanity in the middle it’s up to her to figure out why someone is trying to kill her. Where Weavers Daire is the first book in a new rip-roaring space opera series in the same vein as Babylon 5, Firefly, Farscape and Star Wars!
Floating Ink by James Livingood
Not All Invasions Are Hostile.
The world was cookie cutter ready for an alien invasion. Xenophen leveraged humanity’s growing into a knowledge economy. To control us, they simply needed to offer a better education.
Meet Ruth; a homeless woman whose only means of survival is serving humanity's destruction. As she sees mankind's noose slowly tightening, she scrapes for any means of escape. She flees with restricted knowledge, in the hope it can unravel our doom.
All the best,
Rae
