Last week, Derek and I had some deep conversations on his brand new podcast BE Curious.

Also, today is BE's birthday (yes, they have just launched today!) 🎉

To me, the philosophy of BE has been ingrained in my life since I was 22, and built into the work I do.

For the first 20 years of my life, I was so focused on the "doing" because I didn't want to be left behind. I harboured so much fear and unworthiness, doing whatever I can in academics or business to "get ahead".

I became such a competitive and calculative person. When I met prospects in my previous business, I was judging them in my head for not being "as self-aware as me". If that sounds cringe, yes, I was very cringe.

I was so obsessed with being better than others because I was average throughout my childhood. I so badly wanted to be seen and heard.

Thankfully, I met some amazing mentors and friends along the way who saw me for who I am, not what I can do or the results I could produce.

BE to me is acknowledging that we are valuable as we are. Trying to "add value" is akin to trying to "be human". We already ARE human, just like we are valuable, simply by being.

As a speaker and coach, I've been living and breathing "Own Your Voice" - guiding leaders to speak and lead with authentic confidence.

Most speaking experts out there emphasise on the SKILL of speaking because its easier to sell. SKILLS are certain, predictable and quantifiable.

After working with over a hundred leaders from different backgrounds and cultures, I've learnt that what stops us from speaking up with confidence and power is 20% skill and 80% our soul and spirit.

That is why I don’t just work on the skills, I journey with them to nourish their SOUL and SPIRIT.

I'm grateful to be collaborating with BE as they start their journey towards empowering people to live holistic lives - nourishing their work, relationships and self.

Though BE is born today... Derek has spent more than a decade in the start up and entrepreneurship world, building Viddsee (2 billion views, annual 7 fig business). He then took an entire year off because he needed to rebuild what he thought he knew about work, identity, and relationships.

My multiple conversations with him reveals the heart and soul he has put into BE, and I can't wait for the rest of the world to experience it.
