Before I share with you about this gift, I’d love to introduce you to my friend Derek.

If anyone meets him, they might not know that he’s worked that Silicon Valley life, met lots of the OG creators we watched growing up, and went on to build Viddsee for the last 10 years (garnering over 2 billion views, annual 7-fig business)

He’s the most down to earth, humble and “normal” guy I’ve met. Zero “air”, present in the moment, and growth minded and curious.

I resonated deeply with his journey, how he dealt with the challenges of entrepreneur hustle, questioning his identity after leaving his startup— challenges I personally went through in some regard.

Having worked with hundred over rising leaders in the past 4 years (both entrepreneurs and rising corporate leaders), I’ve observed some commonalities:

1. They want to use their voice. They know deep down they have valuable insights to share. They know there’s more potential left to be unlocked. 

2. But they are held back— by fear, insecurity, perfectionism, just all these “rules” of how they should show up stopping them. 

3. Because they are in their own heads, they don’t have the energy and capacity to look at their speaking objectively and learn simple tweaks to elevate their presence. 

We look at others we admire and we think “ah… why do they do it so effortlessly?” “How can I speak and show up that way??”

I hear you 🥹 Lemme tell you, I’ve felt this way plenty of times. 

But the most fascinating thing is when I meet these leaders I admire and look up to, I realise they are human just like us. 

The only difference is they reflect instead of react. They don’t let their fears get to them but instead treat it as information and opportunity.
